We are already in our Halloween best. We thank our friend Bob Slassor for this wonderful pic of Wolfy last year, having Halloween tea at La Rosa Hotel.
8 days until Halloween! Squee, we are nearly there! We have been pondering the possibility of making poisoned apples. Well, not really poisoned but Halloween Snow White-inspired apples.
Clovis has been trying to reason with Mr Gargoyle. He seems to be overexcited! And why wouldn’t he? It’s only 11 days until Halloween!
Located on Skinner Street, Mademoiselle’s is a fairly new restaurant in Whitby, and we were very excited to try it. It just looks so cosy and inviting that it is impossible to resist. We certainly made a great decision, and had a fabulous time.
Mademoiselle’s oozes personality and has a very special French twist. It feels a bit like travelling to 19th century Paris. We just loved the decor, the chandeliers, the antiques, the little details that make it a lovely place. It is very chic, we felt so stylish and cosmopolitan! Clovis gave Mademoiselle’s his elegance seal of approval, although, being a vampire, he didn’t enjoy the mirrors that much…
Mademoiselle’s is well-known for its quality French dishes but it is also top notch for afternoon tea. We had scrumptious cheesecake with delicate flowers and red forest fruits. It looked amazing and it tasted even better. We also ordered Earl Grey tea, and we had gallons of it. Everything was just perfect. By the way, Mademoiselle’s offers excellent vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free choices, so regardless of your dietary requirements, you will always find delicious food to enjoy with friends and family.
Speaking of family, we met a little girl called Ruby and her fantastic family. They were lovely and kind enough to record a video with Wolfy.
Last but not least, we had live music, which was a sweet touch.
We will definitely be visiting again. We loved Mademoiselle’s so much. Many thanks to the Mademoiselle’s team for making us feel so welcome and massive thanks to Ruby and her family for their kind permission.
Bites and howls,
Clovis and Wolfy
Hello, boys and girls. And girls and boys. Long time no read. We are relaunching our tea blog with new posts and new adventures from our travels, in no particular order. And what better place to start our tea adventures than the Madhatter Tea Room, at Whitby’s La Rosa Hotel?
We have been visiting La Rosa for years and it has never ceased to amaze us. This is truly a unique place. Its Madhatter Tea Toom is remarkably cosy and quaint, with a dash of fun and quirkiness. They have a wonderful long table with all sorts of homemade goodies that Wolfy simply could not resist.
Clovis is a lot fancier, of course, and more interested in reserving a fine-looking table to have his tea. He was not disappointed.
We are very fond of the lovely and slightly kooky details that make La Rosa so very special and an all-round quintessentially British tea experience. We enjoyed, in particular, the company of La Rosa’s Alice.
They have a great selection of teas. Clovis tried the Mad Hatter’s brew, which was simply delicious.
If you happen to visit Whitby on Halloween, don’t miss La Rosa. They have the cutest Halloween decorations on their tables.
